it's always sunny in crazytown
Bathroom is almost done, kitchen is half done, 5 people coming to work on electricity, bathroom tiles, delivery etc. today. There is a basement room. It's big enough to hold a vamp tied to a chair.
Internet currently <1 hr/day. ISP said welcome letter was lost in the mail, but hardware should arrive soon. Managed to watch the latest Doctor Who - WTF? srsly, WTF?
Bed already transported to new place. When I was in france a few years ago on a student exchange programme, my exchange partner's big sister had a stylish mattress she slept on, and I thought it was so cool. Can now definitely say: not cool, bloody uncomfortable.
Ex-not-quite-boyfriend (embarrassing story) sent two mails, "TALK TO ME, BITCH;" both forwarded to denial-land.
Boss sent a letter with timetable for the first two days:
Day 1: introduction, introduction, more introduction
Day 2: bike tour and bbq
WTF, I get paid for this?

Last day in the old place is friday. Don't break the internet while I'm gone. *waves*
*prays to isp*

not quite a night-and-fog operation
It's getting more and more exciting. And it's pretty stressing.

Timeline:

July 5th: all the shelves, the fridge, the TV, everything big and heavy is going to the new place.
July 6th: if the computer hasn't be pried from my cold, dead fingers, I'll be able to watch the last Doctor Who. *crosses everything*
July 9th (WE): a nice lady whom I don't know is coming to hang up my shower curtain, for which I didn't ask. sweet. I'm gonna wear something black and short.
also July 9th: painter will do the last door, water in the kitchen will get fixed, more stuff gets transported to the new place. Freezer, grill, and washing machine are delivered.
July 12th (SAT): last stuff is moved, and I'll stay. also first real groceries-shopping trip.
July 15th (WE): last day to get important stuff. by now the internet hardware should be there, the phone should be working, and maybe I've even found a REAL sofa-bed or futon.

fear of bad karma
Just ordered DSL/phone for the new flat, by phone. Been told that it'll only take two weeks. THEN I went to the "problems with xyz ISP" boards (not just my ISP, wanted to make sure the number of OMG THOSE BASTARDS is equal to that of previous ISP which was okay, and it is). AM NOW SCARRED FOR LIFE. Everything will go wrong: the hardware won't arrive, DSL won't be possible, they'll take more money, I won't be able to access sites, the dl speed will be modem/analog....

*PANICS*

it's in the air
YAY, so Blog Like It's The End Of The World is over, and it was fun. (btw, thanks for not thinking I'd cracked).
And the estate people sent me the lease contract which I signed in blood so I now officially have a new place. I also have half a kitchen, a whole bath, and most of the living room. Plus the early date (1.7.) means that I have enough time to get the formalities done and make sure I have internet and a washing machine and stuff.
I also had a look at my old bank statements because I wasn't sure how much money I had back in Münster (and now I have a whole flat to take care of), but it's about the same (hopefully a bit more) now.
The crazy thing is, the prospect of moving makes me giddy. I love moving. I love having new places to live. And of course I'll finally be on my own again.

“Here's what's happened. I said that I'd leave towards the village, and I did. I did. And I saw them, down on main street. There was a guy I was in college with, he was still munching on a girl.

I don't know how I made it here - I barely made it here alive.
I killed one of them. I got my spade and it was so easy, they're not very fast. Anyway, he went down and I just kept hitting him and he didn't stand up again. The rest of them were coming towards me and just ran. God.

I'm in a bank. In the bank building, and god bless wi-fi because someone's left their network open. I don't know how. I mean, the radio's down, except for one station. There's news trickling in and it doesn't sound like there's help on the way. The phone lines are all down. I'm here with the mike and the laptop.

It seems like everything's - there's on one else. There's no one else. I went to the windmill, and it's a slaughterhouse. God there - that's not even bodies anymore. They're there. There's just one exit. I didn't go in, I saw it from the outside.

We're four people in here. There's me and Jesse, a friend of mine. She brought - she's brought a cricket bat - god, she's so strong. And snacks.
There's a couple. I've never seen them before, they're thirty, perhaps. The woman's just crying all the time, and the guy is trying to by macho, but I think he's frightened, too.

I think we're gonna leave here, because there's no one else. We should make it to the highway. It's just four, five kilometers, that's not far, it's not even open field. We can make that. Someone's got to be on the highway, right? We can't be the only ones left here, right?

Hey, do you hear that? Hey?
Jesse? Jesse, how long until we can go?
- Ten minutes.

Okay, ten minutes, then we're out of here, and we're gonna try and make it to the highway.”

Okay, it's getting dark. Jesse and I agree that now is the time to leave for the highway. The guy on the radio said that it's worst in the big cities, and that some people are still alive in the rural areas. Apparently we weren't prepared at all - yeah, shocking. So we're gonna move east - that's where the helicopter flew. If there's still military around, if there's a safe zone, we have to find it.

“I'm here, I think I'm safe right now. I saw it last night, what they were talking about, the comet. And the dogs barking, too. I'mean, we live between farms, and I saw them.
I saw them this morning. I was opening the shutters and there they were. Two of them, just walking the other way. I don't think they've seen me. I was just hiding and - oh god.
There was blood on the street, like a pool. Like it had just rained. And one of them only had one arm. One arm!

I'm just walking throught the house, making sure everything's all right. Collecting stuff, you know, like first-aid stuff, something to eat, flashlight, knife, all that stuff.

And just a few minutes ago, the bus came back. You know, they take the children to school in the morning. And usually - I live right next to the main street. Usually, there's heavy traffic but right now there's silence, nothing. Except a few minutes ago, the bus came back.
I thought it was great, I mean, I hadn't seen anyone all day. I thought, 'Yeah, things are normal, I'm not crazy'.
They're weren't great. They really weren't great. They came out of the bus, and. Oh god.

I've pulled the curtains everywhere, I hope they can't see me. I've got a door in the back, one in the front, low windows.

I'm not gonna stay here. I don't want to stay here alone. I'm gonna go out and see if - Someone else must be left.

Our neighbors, they're amateur hunters. They've got guns and weapons and dogs. They must have survived.

I can't be the only one here, right? Right?”

“I think it's started. I really think it's started. I mean, I've heard news from people in Asia. The lines were down and - it seems to work again, but not everyone's there. I mean - a few people are just - they're not responding, and. And they say that they've seen them outside. They're already there.
I've heard - this guy in France. It's in the - in the Independent. In the news! He just stood up again. And I haven't heard anything else from Europe yet, but -
Oh god, what if it's started? I mean I didn't think it would happen so soon. I made sure the new place I got - it would be safe, high windows, solid doors and all, but-
Oh god. What if it's started?
What if... I just hope - I just hope I'm gonna make it through the night.”

So that meme that's going around?

You’re stuck in a zombie infested mall with one weapon, one companion, and one song?

I have nothing to add except: someone did it better than I ever could:

make music, not politics
Every time I see the "update" page and the blank field I remind myself not to post about politics. So far it works. Barely. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

I've been tagged by [info]darrus:

We all love music and we all hate music. List five music artists that you can't stand, and five that you can't live without. Then tag five people.

Dead to me:
- any mention of any German folk (schlager) band. This includes Pur, but not Heinz Rudolf Kunze.
- Onkelz
and now it gets hard because I'm agreeable, I like lots of stuff. Techno, electro, rock, indie, blues, pop, punk, metal, wave, conceptual, all okay.

I can't live without:
- Nick Cave (logical)
- David Bowie
- Elton John (do. not. mock.)
- Lacrimosa
- The Cure

Consider yourself politely tagged: [info]abrandnewboom, [info]snookerfran, [info]entchenmv, [info]ringlunatic and [info]wirrrn. :D

seven days and twelve hours until Doctor Who
Re: Doctor Who:
I will NOT watch it. I will not. I will get my hands on it, and then just ignore it for a week. And if you spoil me, I will bombard you with bad Frank-N-Furter marcos. So there.

the drama llama is alive and kicking
Backstory: summer of 2004 I did a real life FLOUNCE and left my dear city to go study in Münster, leaving my contact details only to a few people. And now I've been back for a while and started doing this typing course so I have proof to show my future apprenticeship employer that yes, I can type with ten fingers, thank you.

And of course I ran into someone of the general "follower" group last week at the course, who immediately proceeded to accuse me of not leaving any address or phone number, and "just leaving them". Well, yes. I kind of feared what would happen this time, but apparently she's grown up, e-mail addresses were exchanged, the world is a happy place, etc.

And since I was "back! OMG!!1!," I was treated to an express rundown of four years of DRAMA. Who's pregnant (three), who's fathered children and left his girlfriend (two), who has torn friendships apart over money and long-distance phone calls (said girl's best friend), and who is working at the check-out of the nearest supermarket (three).

Seriously. I've asked myself a couple of times while I was gone whether I should have stayed in contact with more people, and the answer is obviously, NO. So come August, I will FLOUNCE again and leave town with no forwarding address. I will not pull the strings of the dead drama llama.

Ooooh, thank you guys. [info]unsichtbaren, OMG, thank you, but shouldn't have! You didn't have to! :D

So, the search for a flat in GT goes on.
Me: Hi, I'm calling about the flat in GT, number #234?
Estate guy: Yeah, guess what? We're gonna do make lease contract with someone tomorrow! What do you think of that!?
Me: ... asshole.
I DID find the funny ads of people looking for flat sharing though.

It's over, and we have a flounce. :P
Oh well done, Ronnie. And it wouldn't be the Worlds if there weren't a Ronnie-Flounce.
Ali's looking very disappointed, and I can sort of understand it because everyone was saying, "Ali Carter did so great, reached the finale" like that's the end and it's all he can do. Of course Ronnie was about twice as good as everyone else in the last matches, but Ali did beat Mags and Murphy and Edbon to get there.
Ah. Well done, Ronnie.
